Paul Kelly

A native of Hamilton, Ontario, Paul played at a professional level for 8 years and was a draft pick for the LA Kings in 1986. Paul has over 25 years of experience as a coach, including 9 years at a professional level, 9 years as the Head Coach of the Fairfield University Girls team and 9 years as the Head Coach of the Fairfield High School Girls team. Paul has been a coach with the WWYHA since the inception of the program in 2003 and has provided oversight and in both the house and travel programs. Paul runs many programs and clinics throughout the year and is dedicated to hockey skills and skating development of the Wonderland Wizards players.

Carl Larouche

Carl is a level 5 USA hockey certified coach and has over 20 years of experience including 10 years at WWYHA as head coach of Squirt AA, Pee-Wee AA and Bantam AA teams and 5 years as head coach of the Fairfield COOP High School team. While coaching Fairfield COOP High School team, he was named 2017 FCIAC coach of excellence, 2021 FCIAC coach of the year and 2021 all-state coach of the year.  

 

Matt Boyhen

Matt has been coaching hockey for over 20 years. He has coached for multiple programs and at every age level. Matt joined the Wizards for the 2023-2024 season. Additionally he has been serving as a Notre Dame of Fairfield assistant coach for the boys’ varsity team for the past two seasons. Matt was a member the Notre Dame of Fairfield’s first state championship team. He went on to play collegiately at Nichols College and Central CT State University. Matt has coached many teams to winning seasons and tournament championships, but most enjoys teaching players, the fundamentals of the game, while instilling a competitive love of the sport of ice hockey.

Trevor Dodds

Trevor is a native of Hanover, New Hampshire and played for Middlebury College. He grew up around youth hockey, with his dad being a coach and he has coached several U16 teams to USA National Hockey Championships. Trevor graduated from the Yale School of Business in 2019 and joined the WWYHA in the 2022-2023 season as a coach.

Greg Mondo

Greg has been a WWYHA coach for several years. During his tenure with the WWYHA he has led several Squirt and Pee Wee level teams to the State Championships. Prior to coaching at the WWYHA, he coached at the Bantam level for the West Haven Youth Hockey League, winning several State Championships. A former West Haven Youth and High School player, where he won a State Championship in 1990, Greg eats, breathes and sleeps hockey, while instilling respect, teamwork and leadership in his players. He can frequently be found at the rink during his off hours, firmly dedicated to helping the WWYHA players meet their goals on and off the ice.

Paul Mastrony

Paul started coaching youth hockey with the Minot Wolves Youth Hockey Program in Minot, North Dakota. While with Minot, he coached both Mite and Squirt A level travel teams. Paul later went on to coach the highly successful Bakken Oilers AAA tier 1 team. After just one season with the Oilers, he moved back to Connecticut and joined the WWYHA where he has coached multiple levels for 14U and 15U teams. 

Paul served 16 years active duty in the U.S. Air Force. During his time in the Air Force Paul was a Security Force member and went on several overseas deployments. In 2020, Paul graduated from Sacred Heart University with a bachelor’s in social work; graduated with his Masters in Social Work from Quinnipiac University in 2021. 

Bill Garfield

Bill has been coaching youth hockey from Mite to High School for over 12 years, with 2 years in the WWYHA. Prior to coaching for WWYHA, he coached with the Mid-Fairfield Stars and Southern Hockey. Bill also was an assistant coach at Notre Dame High School in Fairfield for six seasons.

Bill has been involved in hockey his entire life and credits Marty Roos, Bill Maniscalco, Tim Cooney, Bob Gaudet and his father for making him the coach he is today. He was lucky enough to talk, watch and learn from some fantastic hockey people. He attended Notre Dame High School in Fairfield and was part of a State Championship in 1989. Bill played hockey at Roger Williams University and Southern CT State and participated in two ACHA National tournaments.

Pete Michetti

Pete is a native of Montreal, Quebec, and played at Concordia University. He has over 10 years of coaching experience in youth hockey, with several years in the WWYHA. Prior to coaching for WWYHA, he coached at the Atom and Pee Wee level in Montreal as part of the Lac-St. Louis Hockey Association before moving to Connecticut. Pete is a highly accomplished coach, winning State Championships at the Squirt, Pee Wee and Bantam levels. He enjoys the development of the athletes at a young age and strives to ensure they want to continue to play at the next level. 


Armand Uomoleale

Armand began his hockey coaching career in middle school, as a young volunteer for the CT Storm team, teaching special needs children and adults how to skate and play the game. He continued coaching later for the University of Indiana Club Hockey team while completing his undergraduate studies. He began his own skating career at the Mite level in Bridgeport, and was part of the debut Squirt A Wizards team in 2003. He continued playing youth hockey until he went to Avon Old Farms School in Avon, CT, where he joined the Varsity Team and served as its captain his senior year there.  After high school, Armand's playing career took him to Junior hockey in Canada in the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) for the Cowichan Capitals. He returned to play additional Junior hockey in Boston and Springfield, MA for the South Shore Kings and Springfield Pics before entering the University of New England in Biddeford, ME as a student and member of their hockey team. Armand continues to love the game, and credits the top coaches, players and trainers he was fortunate enough to study under for developing his passion, skill set, and work ethic. His goal today is to share those with current youth hockey players and help them develop their game.

Eric Peterson

Eric played for Quinnipiac College and has over 20 years of youth hockey coaching experience, including 20 years with the WWYHA. Eric is a highly successful WWYHA coach, with multiple State Championships at the Pee Wee and Bantam.
